Mini-Basketball England has received an invitation for teams to join the Belgium Mini-Basketball European Tournament in Brussels for 2008.

Northampton did attend three of these European events in the 1980's. On the first occasion Bective Middle School took a mixed team to find there were separate boys and girls sections. On the second occasion we took a town girl’s team and on the third occasion a boy’s team. The competition is of a high standard with club teams travelling from many different European countries.

The organiser since its inception has been Joris Condijts. Joris writes:

As the tradition wants it, since 1979, the weekend of Pentecost joins together the in love ones with the mini-basketball in Brussels. Many clubs marked annals of this international demonstration. We welcome all the foreign teams. Let us not forget our faithful Belgian teams which have the occasion to measure themselves in a spirit of faternity and solidarity to other young people of the continent.

We are persuaded that these young people, like the precedents, will have this moment engraved forever in their memory.

Twenty-nine tournaments, twenty-nine years of joys, sorrows, victories, defeats which give to this event a single dimension in Belgium.

  Mini-Basketball School JUNIOR, Macedonia

My name is Todor Chalovski. I am from Skopje, Macedonia. I work as a web editor of the official site of mini basket school JUNIOR, named:

I am writing you about the mini basket school Junior. We are the biggest mini basket school in the Balkans. We exist for 14 years. During that time, we also organize the best basketball summer camp in the region. This year we expect around 1000 kids to attend the camp, coming not only from Macedonia, but from Serbia, Bulgaria, Albania, Greece, Kosovo, Turkey etc. This year the camp will be attended for the first time by coach from USA, named Devin Duvak.

We have 20 coaches, working with 1500 children, training in 25 elementary schools around Macedonia. We organize our own mini basket league, which is consisted of 60 teams, competing 4 sub leagues, divided by the different age of the children. We also have our weekly TV show, which is shown on national television TELMA every weekend.

We would like to have cooperation on different levels with you. We kindly invite you to our camp; we would also like to attend your camps and similar events, if you give us more info about them.

If you are looking for a European event for an established and experienced Mini-Basketball Team than the Montecatini Tournament in Florence, Italy is advertising for entries.

The Tournament takes place at Easter from April 5th to 9th 2007. The Mini-basketball age-groups are: Mixed Teams born 1995/1996 and younger and born 1997/98 and younger.

Hello Mini-Basketball England

My association AVENIR BASKET of SAINT ROMAIN LE PUY organizes an international tournament on May 26th and 27th. This tournament is reserved for girls born in 1994 and 1995. We accept teams with 12 players and 2 coaches, for a free journey. The team has just to pay for the travel. Accompagniants can come and have a room for 15 € per night and meals for 8 €.Teams can arrive on friday and leave on monday in the morning.  

Our village is at 100 kms from LYON. It's the 7th edition of the tournament which has been recognized by FIBA in 2002. We should be very happy to welcome an english team, and hope that you can give us e-mail adresses of club's director to permit us to contact them.

Congrats on the lovely updated website.  I have been browsing and I came
across this interactive site.  Lately I have been appointed Chairman for
the Malta  Mini- Basketball Commission. 
 
We have recently separated the mini sector from the junior sector as we believe that
these are two different philosophies.
 
As from last year we adopted a 3 vs 3 tournament structure across the following categories:  Under 9,
under 11 , whereas 5 vs 5 in the under 13 categories.
 
We feel that this situation has helped make the game more attractive and pleasant for all participants, skilled and unskilled.  This way the competitive elements which unfortunately seem to negatively affect the  game and the environment have somewhat subsided.
 
The 3 vs 3 allowed for all particiapnts to take an active role withinthe game and has encouraged  not only the talented but also  beginners to feel good playing mini basketball! Kindly keep me updated re seminars, courses, workshops in Mini Basketball leading, teaching and educating.

Presentation of school for mini basket “JUNIOR”

  • The mini basket school JUNIOR exists since 1994 and it’s the first and the only school for mini basket in Macedonia (specialized for children between 6-10 years), also the most visited basketball school on the Balkan (in season 2005/6 – 1.180 members).
  • The basic motto is to make conditions to each child and young person possibility for doing sport.
  • We are working according to special program named “First basketball step” made by experts in their fields, appropriate to the age of the children. With children between 6-10 years we work separately, with small balls and baskets appropriate to their height and capability.
  • Each child – member of the school get own training clothes free of charge (T-shirt, sport jersey and shorts).
  • The trainings are holding in rented gym halls in25 primary schools in Skopje (capital of Macedonia) and in 6 other towns in Macedonia.
  • In "JUNIOR" works the best coaches for young categories of players in Macedonia (about 18). They have finished or are students of the Faculty for Physical Education, or they are former players. The act that our basketball players play in the strongest European leagues is a fact that speaks about the quality of our program and our coaches.
  • The most famous names of the Macedonian basketball have made the first steps in the school “JUNIOR”
  • From 2005 for the first time we started participation on the international tournaments for mini basket and till now we have participated on 6 tournaments and won 11 first places with different age categories.
  • Traditionally already 12 years in the summer period we are organizing summer basketball campJUNIOR in Ohrid. By now, on this camp have been around 3.000 young basketball players. This year we had 630 participants.
  • Every year significant contribution in our work on common satisfaction has our Sponsors/partnerschosen by Principe “THE BEST COOPERATE WITH THE BEST”. This year our partners are: MONTE (Zott) , FRU C TAL (producer of juices) , JOGOBELLA (Zott) , VITAMINKA ( food factory ) , GORSKA (water), KRKA (PICOVIT PLUS - Vitamins), DELTA SPORT (Nike), McDonald’s, DELTA Ice Cream.
  • In the season 2004/05 we established first and only mini basket league in Macedonia in which participated total 64 teams and were played 209 games
    • Excellent organization on the second edition of the “MONTE-JUNIOR mini basket league” – award and praise by Basketball association of Macedonia for excellent organisation of the mini basket league and huge contribution in work with young categories of players
    • Organization of humanitarian ALL STAR game in the stile of NBA(around 2.500 audience)

In season 2005/06 JUNIOR has own TV Show for mini basket league that is broadcasted on national television TELMA - large popularity and ratings
